- Everybody requires a visa to visit France but depending upon length of stay and on nationality basis you may not need to have a visa. Like citizens from "Schengen Agreement" countries do not require to get a visa to visit France. If the period of stay is not more than 90 days then also in certain cases the applicants are exempted from the obligation of carrying a visa.
- Documents required for issuing a visa to France:
a) A passport or official travel document which is valid for minimum 3 months longer than the validity of the requested visa
b) One application form accordingly signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian in the case of minors
c) A passport-size photograph
d) Evidence of having sufficient funds in your hands to cover the cost of your desired stay in the form of recent bank statement or traveler's cheques.
e) A confirmed return ticket to France or a confirmed booking from your travel agent
f) A confirmation of your hotel reservation or a certificate of board and lodging or "Attestation d'Accueil", to be obtained by the person to whom you are visiting in France, from the local Townhall ("Mairie") or Police Station
g) In case you are a student then submit a recent letter from your school, college or university which confirms your admission
h) Medical insurance evidence.
In general cases it only takes 1- 3 days for the issuing of a visa. But in certain unavoidable conditions the period may extend. For the students the French government is giving multiple entry opportunities in France as well in Paris. Once their visa is granted it is automatically renewed till the period of their study in France. But a tourist visa, under no condition, can be converted into a student visa.
