Macedonian Airlines includes both MAT Macedonian Airlines and Macedonian Airlines (OA). Of the two, MAT Macedonian Airlines is the more popular one. It was established in 1994 and operated it's first flight from Skopje to Zürich using Boeing 737-200. Earlier, Mat Macedonian Airlines was under the complete control of Jet Airways but later when they got separated, Mat finally got it's own aircraft and started running successfully inspite of tough competition from other airlines. At present MAT is owned by Zivko Gruevski (48.43%) and Zlatko Petrovski (48.43%) and the government of Macedonia has given MAT the status of National Flag carrier of the Republic of Macedonia.

Moreover, a management team has also been appointed to help MAT with the reconstituting of the Airlines.Macedonian Airline has been serving flights to numerous cities both domestic and international. It serves domestic flights from Ohrid Airport and the Skojpe Airport and flies to international countries like:

- Austria-Vienna
- Germany-Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg
- Italy-Rome
- Netherlands-Amsterdam
- Switzerland-Zürich
- Turkey-Istanbul
Fleet :The Fleet used by MAT Macedonian Airlines includes two Bombardier CRJ-900 and one Boeing 737-300. Moreover, Macedonian Airlines also had a possession of an Embraer jet which was later given away for reasons unknown to the public.
