Singapore Airlines

Started on 12 October 1937, Singapore Airlines is the national airlines of Singapore. It is based in the Singapore Changi Airport. Due to its excellent performance, Singapore Airlines is greatly respected and valued in the world of aviation. It was the third airline in the world to be granted the IATA Operations Safety Audit by the IATA.

For proper and effective functioning, Singapore Airlines has several departments working together to make Singapore Airlines a success. It has separate departments for air catering, ground handling, tour marketing and aviation engineering. It also has a subsidiary department called the Silkair for handling the secondary cities with lesser requirements like China, Southeast Asia and India.


For the entertainment of the passengers on board, the Singapore Airlines have devised new and innovative methods. Passengers are offered entertainment facilities like personal Dolby digital cinema headphones and noise blocking headphones(for first class passengers). They have a stock of approximately 80 television shows, 200 CDs, 100 movies, flight cameras, traveler guide and Nintendo games. In some flights Internet services are also provided. In fact, Singapore Airlines is the first airline to have a live television broadcast.

For the facility of the passengers, Singapore Airlines has a very effective fleet of cargo planes. The FAPPA or the Federation of Asia-Pacific Aircargo Associations awarded Singapore Airlines for being the “top airline for outstanding service.”
